1. General Overview

What is ToolManageriQ™?

ToolManageriQ™ is an advanced tool‑data‑management solution for GibbsCAM. It exists in two forms:

  • GibbsCAM Plugin – tightly integrated into the GibbsCAM UI.
  • Standalone Application – runs independently of GibbsCAM. Both variants let you build and maintain tool assemblies, import/export libraries, and optimize machining setups with AI‑assisted utilities such as feeds‑and‑speeds calculations.

Which GibbsCAM versions are officially supported?

  • TMiQ v4: GibbsCAM 2025 and 2026 (often works on 2024 but not guaranteed).
  • TMiQ v3: GibbsCAM 2023 and earlier.

Where do I find ToolManageriQ in GibbsCAM?

After installation, the plugin appears in the Plug‑Ins menu and–from v4.0.0.5 onward–also in the application submenu/top bar in line with GibbsCAM’s UI guidelines.

2. System Requirements

  • Operating System – Windows 10 or 11 (legacy Windows is unsupported once Microsoft & GibbsCAM drop support).
  • Database Engine – Microsoft SQL Server 2019 (recommended).
  • Hardware – Standard GibbsCAM workstation. Extremely large libraries may slightly increase GibbsCAM startup time; v5 will improve launch performance.

3. Installation & Setup

How do I install ToolManageriQ™?

  • GibbsCAM 2026 – TMiQ is installed automatically by the standard GibbsCAM installer; no separate installer is required.
  • Shared‑Plugin Folder (v4.0.0.5 +) – Installed to C:\Program Files\Common Files\GibbsCAM Shared\Plugins\TMiQ4, eliminating per‑release installs.

What should I do before installing v4 on an existing system?

  1. Back up your old TMiQ databases.
  2. Uninstall older TMiQ versions (v2–v4.0.0.4) or delete their DLLs (C:\Program Files\CAMBRIO\GibbsCAM\<version>\PlugIns\ToolManageriQGibbsPlugin.dll C:\Program Files\CAMBRIO\GibbsCAM\<version>\Bin\tm*.dll)
  3. Re‑run the GibbsCAM installer (which includes TMiQ v4).

I’m getting prompts for older Windows packages during install – is that normal?

Yes. The installer may request missing dependencies such as .NET or Visual C++ redistributables. Accepting these prompts is safe and required for proper operation.

4. Demo Period & Licensing

How do I start the 30‑day demo period?

Install TMiQ v4, accept the EULA, and a fully functional 30‑day demo begins automatically. No features are disabled.

When and how do I request a full license?

Each time you launch the plugin or standalone app you will be prompted to request a license. Fill in all required fields; support will email a .lic file. In the request wizard choose Import License and point to the file – it is copied to C:\ProgramData\ToolManageriQ.

Which version should I use to request a license?

Always request a license from the same major version you plan to run (v3 → v3 license, v4 → v4 license). Licenses are not forward‑compatible.

What is the difference between a plugin license and a standalone license?

License TypeActivatesBound ToInterchangeable?
PluginGibbsCAM plugin onlyGibbsID + requesting PCNo
StandaloneStand‑alone app onlyHardware ID of requesting PCNo

Why are licenses tied to hardware or GibbsID?

Binding ensures the license runs only on the intended machine and/or GibbsCAM installation, preventing accidental misuse.

5. Tool Library & Database Management

Can I import/export tool libraries?

Yes. TMiQ supports CSV, Excel, and XML import/export for easy sharing across teams, machines, and customers.

Can v3 and v4 share the same database?

No. Each major version uses its own schema; mixing them will cause conflicts. Keep separate databases—even if stored on the same SQL Server instance.

Does TMiQ connect to vending systems or ERP databases?

TMiQ v4 includes export features designed for common vending/ERP workflows. Direct integrations are under development for v5.

6. AI Feeds & Speeds (“Ask Fritz”)

What is “Ask Fritz”?

An AI‑based utility that proposes starting feeds and speeds based on tool material, workpiece material, and cutting method. Always validate against shop documentation or a tooling representative.

Does any data leave my network?

No. Ask Fritz sends only the question text that you see; tool libraries or part data are never transmitted to OpenAI or the internet.

7. License Storage & Conflicts

  • All licenses reside in C:\ProgramData\ToolManageriQ.
  • v3 and v4 licenses may coexist; TMiQ auto‑detects the correct file.
  • If a conflict arises, move the older license out of the folder and restart the application.

8. Support & Troubleshooting

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Email support@toolmanageriq.com and attach your log file: %APPDATA%\ToolManageriQ\Log.txt (C:\Users\{USERNAME}\AppData\Roaming\ToolManageriQ\Log.txt)
Include GibbsCAM version and a concise description of the issue or enhancement request.

Is phone support available?

Phone support is offered to resellers and enterprise customers. Email support to schedule a callback.
